Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge for an initial orthodontic consultation?
No. Your initial orthodontic consultation at Obaisi Orthodontics is complimentary. During this visit, Dr. Noor Obaisi will evaluate your smile, review any concerns, and discuss possible treatment options.
At what age should a child first see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have their first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Early visits help monitor growth and identify any bite or alignment concerns at the right time.
Why do orthodontists evaluate children so early?
Early evaluations are usually for observation, not immediate treatment. They allow us to identify developing concerns, monitor jaw growth, and determine the best timing for orthodontic care if treatment becomes necessary.
How long does the first orthodontic visit take?
Most first visits take about 30 to 60 minutes. Depending on your needs, the appointment may include an exam, digital X-rays, photos, or other diagnostic records.
Do you accept patients transferring from another orthodontist?
Yes. We welcome transfer patients and will gather updated records to evaluate the current stage of treatment and recommend the best plan moving forward.
Do you treat adult orthodontic patients?
Absolutely. We treat children, teens, and adults. Many adult patients choose options like clear aligners or ceramic braces for a more discreet orthodontic experience.
What is the difference between an orthodontist and a general dentist?
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who completes additional training focused on straightening teeth, correcting bite issues, and guiding jaw development. Orthodontists specialize in braces and aligner treatment.
What types of orthodontic treatment do you offer?
We offer a range of treatment options including Invisalign clear aligners, Angel Aligners, 3M Clarity Aligners, ceramic braces, lingual braces, and traditional metal braces. Treatment is customized to each patient’s needs.
Can appointments be scheduled after school or work?
We do our best to accommodate busy schedules. Some longer visits may need to take place during the day, but we try to reserve early and later appointments for shorter routine visits whenever possible.
Do you see orthodontic emergencies?
Yes. If you are experiencing an orthodontic emergency, please contact our office. We will guide you on the next steps and arrange care as needed.
Can orthodontic treatment be paid over time?
Yes. We offer flexible payment plans and 0% in-house financing to help make orthodontic treatment more affordable for patients and families.
How does orthodontic insurance work?
After verifying your benefits, we will file claims on your behalf as a courtesy. Insurance benefits are applied to your treatment, but if coverage changes, the remaining balance is still the patient’s responsibility.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, debit cards, direct debit arrangements, and online payments to make orthodontic care more convenient.
Do you offer family discounts?
Yes. We offer special financial arrangements for families with multiple members starting orthodontic treatment.
Do retainers need to be worn after braces or aligners?
Yes. Retainers are an important part of protecting your results. They are usually worn full-time at first, then at night long-term to help keep teeth in their new positions.
Why do teeth shift after braces or aligners?
Teeth can shift naturally over time as part of the aging process. Wearing retainers as instructed helps maintain your orthodontic results.
